Numerical Study of Liquid Film Development on the Spray Impingement under Engine-Related Conditions
Abstract:
Spray/wall interaction plays an important role in the fuel gas mixture process. It’s important to understand the basic dynamic and evolvement of the fuel adherent after impingement. In this paper presented, a framework for modeling the spray/wall interactions including the spray breakup and liquid film transport over the solid plate has been conducted in OpenFOAM along with source terms transport between different phases. Also, a modified film breakup model is developed and implemented into the code to capture the wave entrainment behavior of the liquid film. Initial validation of the model has been performed before the impingement and good agreement is seen with the experimental results of the spray behavior. Comparison of the film development is also made with experimental measurement for film shape, film thickness and film wave under different plate temperature and fuel temperature conditions.
