Dynamics and Structures of Impinging Sheet
Abstract:
An impinging liquid sheet is generated from two alike impinging jets at different impinging angles under various Reynolds and Weber numbers. The shape, size and the thickness of the formed sheet are measured via partial coherent interferometry. The rim arrangement and its breakup process are recorded using the high-speed imaging. The velocity and the size of the drop ligament after the sheet breakup are measured and compared with model predictions. Sophisticated structures are developed around the impinging sheet are observed. The streamlines inside of the impinging sheet may not be a simple radial shape.
